SUMMARY:Coffee\, Cake and Community Time!
DESCRIPTION:The World’s Biggest Coffee Event for Macmillan will take place on Friday September 27\, 2024 2pm – 4pm at the Fishbourne Centre. The event will include musical entertainment from local ukulele group\, Struan Strummers\, and others. We hope folks from the village and further afield will be able to join us again this year for this community event which has been taking place in the village for more than a decade. \nDonations of cake for the event are welcome on the day from 1pm. An ingredients list is appreciated. Please put your name and a contact number on any containers. \nEarly in the afternoon\, we will have music from the local ukulele group\, Struan Strummers led by Rick Hales\, and with special guest guitarist and singer John Gleadall.  \nBring your pencils and pens if you would like to take part in decorating the teacup board for St Richard’s Hospital. You can also design your own teacup and cake shapes.   \nThis national fundraising event is so important as three million people are living with cancer in the UK\, and more than 360\,000 are diagnosed every year\, according to the charity. Many millions of people rely on help from Macmillan to support them and their families as they go through treatment. \nThe Struan Strummers\, led by Richard Hale\, are currently based in West Ashling\, and have been supporting good causes for many years. \nFind out more about the charity at macmillan.org.uk

SUMMARY:Macmillan coffee and cake afternoon
DESCRIPTION:Cake\, cake and more cake! And all to help the vital work of Macmillan. \nYes\, it’s that time again\, for the annual get-together for yummy cakes\, tasty hot drinks and great company at the Fishbourne Centre on Friday 29 September 2023 from 2-4pm\, in aid of Macmillan cancer support charity. \nWe’re hoping for lovely weather so we can all enjoy the lovely Fishbourne Playing Fields\, off Blackboy Lane. But a wet weather plan is in hand and we will be inside the centre if it is raining. There’s also lots of parking at the venue and it’s an easy short walk from Fishbourne train station or bus stop. \nDonations of cakes are welcome from 1pm – please do label any containers with your name and contact\, and include the list of ingredients to help anyone with dietary issues enjoy the event too. If you can help set up and move tables and chairs\, do please come along at 1pm too\, and any help at the end of the event is always appreciated. Prizes for a raffle can be brought at this time too or please leave them with the Fishbourne Centre staff. \nAs last year\, we are keen to make sure every baker feels involved\, so if you love home baking but never brought a cake to an event\, then come and share your creation. Last year’s event saw two first time bakers in their 20 and 30s who were inspired to show off their cooking skills and learn from some brilliant bakers in the area who donate cakes each year to this fundraiser. \nA big thanks to the Fishbourne Centre\, the Fishbourne Parish Council\, Fishbourne Evening WI\, and everyone for all their help with this community event.
